Ever since i could remember i was always on the go. From sleepovers with friends and cousins to having to stay at my grandparents house for the weekend. As i got a tad bit older, the traveling trips got longer and broader. Every summer we would take an educational trip somewhere like Orange Country to Disneyland, Monterey to visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the Hearst Castle leading up to Las Vegas, New York and even London.
Having gone through all of these Traveling experiences, i have learned a lot about packing and planning well a head of time. That is why i have decided to share my tricks and tips with you all, so you don’t make the same mistakes i have made in the past…and yes they were some Big ones! 🙂
So lets get into the top ten things to have you Jet-Set & Going…
- The Right SiZe Luggage: I have always been that person that never had the correct size luggage. My luggage was always to small or to big. I have learned that there is a legit reason why people buy a luggage set but there is something instead. This website breaks down the luggage size you need really easy, so check it out and tell me what you think. Also packing less is more. Because you will be shopping on this trip and you know it!
- Passport Case, Passport & Money: When traveling out of your county these three things are sooo very important. So the passport case is important by making your passport stay safe (no bents, water spills things like that) and to make it easy to find and different than the other people around you. Because the last thing you need is getting your passport mixed up with the person setting next to you. Next When your out and about in whatever county you are in always have your passport with you at all times. Because if you get stuck in a sticky situation, they need to know who you are. The last thing is money, this can be a whole blog post rant on its own but before you leave for this vacation make sure you understand there currency, because the last thing you need is to be cheated out your money.
- Carry On or Going Under: I usually only bring my purse on the plan when traveling within my own country. If I’m going out if the country i carry on my purse plus a backpack. I never bring my big luggage on the plane, it usually goes under. If i have a connecting flight than it makes total since to bring it with you. Just please don’t be those people trying to get you huge luggage into the top luggage compartment.
- Snacks and Drinks: Once i get through airport security i always get snacks to take on the plane. This way it doesn’t matter is you get nasty nut bag. I like to get trail mix, gold fish or cheez-it. The drink part is up to you, but i highly suggest you drink plenty of water.
- Picking a Plane Ticket: There are sooo many websites out there that offer inexpensive travel rates and packaged deals. priceline.com orbitz.com and kayak.com are a few. I suggest getting a packaged plan or just booking your flight and hotel room together. Remember if you can book in advance, this way you save money in the long run.
- Beauty Bag: Bring only what you need! You do not need your whole makeup collection on vacation with you… in less that is what your trip is about. I suggest packing one eyeshadow palette, one blush, mascara, eyeliner and powder that’s it.If you would like anything else, buy it once you get there.
- Put your Mail on Hold: I don’t think a lot of people know this or realize it but you can put your mail on hold at the post office. This way when you get back everything will be safe and you can pay all of your bills at once.
- Travel Size is Gold: Make sure everything in the carry on is travel size or your new 30$ shampoo and conditioner will be thrown away like it was worth nothing. So but travel size containers. you can find them at Target, CVS, Walgreen’s and even on Amazon.com. Don’t waste money make a little investment.
- Day by Day Planner: My days were always planned out or had a sense of what we were going to do. So look online for the place you will be attending and find great historical things to go see. Doing education tours might sound like school or not fun but trust me they are more Remembered.
- Have Fun: I remember getting all packed and exciting to having the day come and I’m stressed out for no reason. So always remember to have fun and see the great things in your vacation.
